No Surprises Act
No Surprises Act & Good Faith Estimates
The No Surprises Act is a federal law that protects clients from unexpected medical bills. It requires healthcare providers to give clear information about the cost of services before care begins. The Art of Living Therapy is committed to transparency, informed consent, and ethical billing practices.
Good Faith Estimates
If you do not have insurance or choose not to use your insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of your mental health services. A Good Faith Estimate outlines the anticipated cost of therapy, including the expected frequency and length of sessions and any other reasonably expected charges.
You may request a Good Faith Estimate before starting therapy or at any time during treatment.
Who Qualifies
You are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate if you are self-pay (uninsured) or if you have insurance but choose not to submit claims. If you plan to use insurance, your insurance company determines coverage and out-of-pocket costs, and a Good Faith Estimate may not apply.
Billing Disputes
If you receive a bill that is $400 or more higher than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill through the Patient-Provider Dispute Resolution process with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. More information is available at www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
